More Thrift Finds

In between the craziness of my life over the last 48 hours, I took a couple of hours today to stop at a favorite thrift store about 45 minutes from home.

(finally! I have been nailed with it 5 times since we have been married and he has NEVER gotten it!)

Everyday after I grab my 2-4 eggs I make sure to thank them and give them each a peck (no pun intended lol!) on the top of their feathery little heads...even the boys-they get so jealous otherwise, no really, they do, it's funny!

I did make brownies yesterday with one of the first eggs. I have had scrambled eggs the last couple of mornings. I have given some to my FIL, BIL, and tonight some to my friend Dorothy who goes with me to the poultry show (had to make sure she tried eggs that are possibly from one of the quackers she helped me pick out!).

As I stated earlier, the last 48 hours have been insane! Monday morning I was told that my aunt is threatening to sue me because she feels I have not been doing my fiduciary duty as trustee of the estate, accusing me of with holding information and signing some paperwork that I knew nothing of until a week before my grandmother passed. If she would slow down long enough to think she would see that my signature is not on the paperwork she's complaining about, that it was signed in March which was 6 months before I took over (mind you she watched me sign paperwork to take over as trustee in November). So I have been trying to get things in order for that in between running around to do paperwork for the sale of one of my grandparent's rental properties. This among my daily life with our own rental, two boys in wrestling, a husband that has been working to many hours!, watching out for my uncle, taking care of my critters, taking care of a household...all I can do is laugh and be thankful that I am needed lol!

I have not been a person I am proud of lately...with all my frustartion my mouth has not been very sweet. If you could pray for me on that I would greatly appreciate it my friends.

Thank you Lord! Not...always easy when our plate is so full and stuff is hanging over the edges of it! Smile!
I think you need to take a 'afternoon' to ....sew & craft! Then you can play with the new finds you have found! :)

Morning Kendra - looks like you found some more treasures!
I'm sorry things have been so rough lately...when we are 'on overload' we sometimes take it out on those nearest and dearest us...but they know you love them. Will say a little prayer for you friend.
For some reason I never thought of ducks laying eggs-lol! How do they taste as compared to chicken's eggs...do they look the same? Goofy friends want to know.

Dear Kendra...your last statement of a mean mout is okay at times...I'm sure you don't mean it actually when it comes out but sometimes you just can't take anymore. I will pray for you but I think HE understands.
Your life sure is a full one isn't it? With good and 'frustrating' things.
I will pray for a good outcome with the 'family matters' - Being the one who has to take care of these matters isn't an easy task...my brother is in the middle of all that with our aunts matters...but this one thankfully is going smooth.
Oh...congratulations on getting some wonderful fresh eggs...hope you get more and more from them.

Essential Oils

I have spoken of and shared some of the benefits that I am familiar with lavender essential oil and it seemed to spark a lot of interest so I thought I would share some of the bit of knowledge that I have on other various essential oils, their uses and benefits.

After using an essential oil be sure to wash your hands well so as not to risk eye contact or contact with something that it may stain (it is oil and just as veggie oil would these oils will make a greasy stain...it'll just smell better.)

Essential oils can be used in a variety of ways:

as a sleep aid: rub 1-2 drops gently into temples or apply to sternum

as an aid to sore, achy muscles: rub a few drops gently inta affected area (s)

as a bath oil: add 5-20 drops to running bath water

as a decongestant: in a bowl of hot water add a few drops of oil, place a bath towel over your head, and inhale/breath in vapors or put essential oils directly onto chest

as an air freshener: 5-25 drops on new furnace filter

5-10 drops into running dish water

5-25 drops into new vacuum bag

I also add 5-10 drops to my homemade cleaners

as a perfume: apply to wrist, elbow, crease, behind knee, sternum, or neck or add to body lotion

as a pick-me-up: apply oil to a cotton ball and sniff

as a room freshener: add 5-20 drops into an empty glass misting bottle then add distilled water, leave 1/4" at the top of the bottle; shake well

*oil can be applied to the soles of your feet if you do not care for a scent but still desire the benefits

*do not apply oil to face; with the exception of lavender; I do apply tea tree directly to pimples

* do not ingest oils

I am Here is where I am simply going to share some of the knowledge that I have of certain essential oils and their therapeutic uses/what they are used to alleviate symptoms of. I hope to add to the list weekly if not more often.

Not alphabetical (sorry, I did it by my faves LOL!)

prices are per 1/2 fl oz

Lavender: approx. $11-

burns, inflammation, cuts, wounds, eczema (Hiney swears by it!), dermatitis, fainting, headaches (I swear by it!), flu, insomnia, hysteria, migraines, nausea, nervous tension, infections, bacterial conditions, sores, ulcers, acne (my preference), boils, asthma, rheumatism, arthritis

This is my fave. to add to dish or bath water and to my homemade cleaners, calming, relaxing scent.

Citronella: approx. $3.50

as an insecticide, deodorant, tonic, stimulant

Put a few drops on a cotton ball and rub on underarm area or apply to exposed skin (not face or other sensitive areas) as a bug repellent. I have been using this as a deodorant for a few weeks now, WOW! what a difference and no harmful chemicals.

Tea Tree: approx. $7.75

use for fungal infections, viral and bacterial infections, colds, flu, cold sores, warts, verrucas, inflammation, acne, burns, candida, shock, and hysteria

I love this one for rashes, I must have gotten into something on that kayak trip and I have had a rash on my arm since, well I started rubbing tea tree oil onto the rash and it starting to settle down now...maybe coincidence but I like to think it's the oil.

Eucalyptus: approx. $5.50

sore throats, coughs, bronchitis, sinusitis, skin infections, ulcers, sores, rheumatism, aches and pains, as an antiseptic and as an anti-inflammatory

I use this on my feet when they are really aching, rub on with a cotton ball and put on socks before climbing under the sheets at night!

Peppermint: approx. $7.50

inflammation, nausea, indigestion, fevers, flatulence, headaches, migraine, liver problems, arthritis

This works wonderfully for achy muscles and headaches, just put a few drops on a cotton ball and rub on achy area (works great on shoulders and neck) or put a drop on each temple for a head ache. Chewing a piece of peppermint gum works great for settling an upset stomach.
