Look What I Found!
I didn't get out to the Duck Hut yesterday so I headed down this morning. I grabbed their big water jug and when I lifted it up I found an egg! The first ever! Granted it was frozen and cracked but it was an egg none the less and I have waited for sooooo long! I squealed with delight which scared all the ducks, they went quacking into the corner. Anyway, when I turned around with my precious egg and the water jug I must have glanced at the nesting box because I saw 8 more eggs. WooHoo! Looks like they had been laying for a bit, I just wasn't looking in the right place!
The eggs in the nesting box were all in a perfect half circle one next to the other so I thought maybe one of the guys was messing with me but when I got inside and checked the fridge the duck eggs that I had bought before were all accounted for. Jene razzed me all summer long that my eggs were probably in the bottom of the duck pond. They won't be laughing when I make them some yummy brownies with my eggs now will they?!
I can't wait to go out there tomorrow morning! It will be like a present every day now! Suppossedly the first eggs of the season that Marly lays will have a very dark brown shell, I am looking forward to seeing them.
Just thought I would share the excitment in my life LOL!
