The reason for my bitter crabiness was that wrestling dad that had upset me so much before. He pulled another stunt on Monday night, he started in on one of the team members and I was three bleacher down before he had three words out and Jene yelled at me to "sit down!". There must have been steam coming out of my ears, then he said "just be quiet". GRRRR! Don't ask me what thought I was going to do or say down there against a 6'5" large man but I figured The Lord would help me at that point! David and Golieth. When the dad sat back down I just watched him to make sure he didn't say another word to his latest "victim". He finally left...boy did the air in the room change when he did but the whole night my blood ran very thin.
Hiney came home with a first and J came home with a third. As a whole the team left with 3 thirds and a first place. I was so proud of all of them! I felt horrible about not bringing any food for them all this time, I had assumed that they would all bring something since this was a tourny and it started at 4:15pm. I told Jene that next year I will pack hotdogs (in a cooler with a hot pack) and stuff for them for this event.
CJ torn open one of the pads on his feet so he had to run around with a sock on his front foot. Then he started licking his other foot and made it raw so I socked his other foot...boy, if looks could kill I would be dead meat! I did end up purchasing some of that bitter-no-chew spray to put on his feet so he wasn't so upset with me...and he didn't look so silly (I am pretty sure the squirrels were laughing at him out in the yard). I held up his feet to spray them but the stuff comes out more as a stream so I got some on my hands. I used my teeth to pull my sleeve up to wash my hands...that stuff does in fact taste bitter and it makes your tongue go numb for a bit too. I won't be chewing on my sleeve anytime soon.
I did get a project done at the tourny last weekend. My first penny rug!
It is a Country Stitches pattern called Basketful of Easter.
After the tourny we stopped at a thrift store in the area (we all look forward to this tourny because it is by this TS!). We found a few treasure but the best was an old wool jacket that was very fuzzy...I was seeing sheep when I spotted it for $3.99. As soon as we got home I threw it in the washer on hot and then to the dryer. As we speak it is sitting already cut out for Pineberry Lane's Have You Any Wool-Primitive Sheep pattern! Here, can you see how fuzzy it is?
A couple more things before I go and get back to painting the bathroom ceiling...I dislike painting ceilings almost as much as I dislike shoe shopping (Jene shoe shops with the boys because I would would rather have a root canal without novacaine than go shoe shopping with them and anyone that knows me knows that, now you do too).
Have any of you seem the new timer grungy candles? They are the battery operated candles but you twist them on at the time you want them to come on every night, they stay on for 6 hrs, turn off and then come on at the same start time the next night! Wish I had thought of that! My nephew was over the other day and I heard him telling his dad "Aunt Keni has these flickering lights all over her house!".
What was the other thing...oh, towel swappers; who would be willing to swap with someone up in Canada? There is no substantial cost difference in postage but you will have to fill out a customs slip, again no big deal you just write "gift" on it and what is inside. Let me know.
Well, off I got to paint a second coat!
Love and blessings to all,
Kendra
Hi Sweetie! Yes sometimes it's hard to sit down and be quiet. Not my best point.I've checked out the timer flickers but the cost at the time was high.Really your first penny? Turned out nice.I'd be willing to do Canada.Hugs!~Amy
ReplyDeleteHi Kendra...wow, what a wrestling meet....does sit always get heated....lol
ReplyDeleteAdorable penny rug....and a fantastic first time project too.
Oh that wool is going to be wonderful for sheep. Isn't it fun when you can find clothing pieces that will work for little $$$'s.
Haven't seen those candles...heard about them but haven't seen them.
I don't mind sending to Canada...I'm always sending out of the country.
Karen

Love your project.. Sweet..
Hope all is well with you..
Blessings..
I am okay with Canada..love your penny rug too.;) nice job.;)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your first penny rug; I'll get around to trying one someday...
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame about that hotheaded dad; I don't know why some people feel that behavior is okay, because it isn't. I can understand why you'd want to intervene, but your hubby is probably right. Better safe than sorry.
Hugs,
Pam
